Is my flute headjoint good?
hi i got a yamaha 481 H solid silver headjoint, and im wondering if it is a good headjoint.
im getting a new flute too for marching band, and im wondering if the Pearl PF-761 with a pearl PH-6J headjoint is good?
and which headjoint is better the
yamaha 481 solid silver or the pearl PH-6J
and i kinda want a new headjoint too but i dont want to spend to much on it. im thinking about spending around $200-$600 on one, so which one is good for that price?
o, for the headjoint that im thinking about buying, its for my concert flute, the pearl one or one im about to buy it going to be my marching band.
and gold lip headjoint, what if it was like gold plated lip? would that make a different of does it have to be like "gold" lip and not "gold plated lip"?
Not sure about those specific headjoints but...
Headjoints that have gold lip rests tend to be the best. Platinum body, Gold body and Titanium body all give different sounds.
Keep in mind that marching band is rigorous (you might drop your flute) and the subtle tones created by better headjoints will be lost outdoors. Save the quality headjoint for ensemble or indoor performance.
Incidently, I tried out a "butterfly" headjoint (has a special ridge on the lip plate) over 10 years ago and it was amazing. Had the tonality of a much more expensive Titanium body for half the price. Worth looking into.
Alternatively, you could buy a higher grade Piccolo for marching band.
