Major Countries for Key Chain Supply Worldwide
While there are countries from all corners of the world who supply key chains by far the most popular places to buy them from will be Hong Kong and China. These areas have the population to allow for cheap labor, and as they become more experienced, they place themselves in a better position to win more of the contracts. As well as being the key chain supply source, they are now also becoming developers and are finding new ways to boost the sales by adding a second use to even the lower priced ones.
Things such as flashlights and bottle openers are being attached to them. Far from being a basic product, they are also adding new ways of presenting them such as silk screening and laser engraving, making them a much more attractive item. China has usually been seen as a cheap source for imported goods, but for two reasons this could be changing. Firstly, the whole world is in an unsure financial position. Costs are rising in the materials such as fabric, plastic and metal, plus oil for the transportation coasts, and also in wages for the staff.
China is becoming more westernized, and their inhabitants want the lifestyle to go with it. There is a two fold impact as a result of this, and China has a dilemma. In order to compete they need to be able to provide what is wanted. In order to do this they must be competitive and as such have been covering the increased costs by explaining that they provide a superior product - laser engraving. The problem is, as the more experienced workers are looking to go into new employment, they are left with less capable workers needing to be trained.
While the cost increases will be fairly small in comparison to a lot of mass produced products, there could be a problem for Western companies who used these fairly cheap items as almost free advertising for their own products. They will have to decide if they want to carry on spending at the increased amount or look for another way to advertise. This shows how this will influence the economies of the key chain supply countries worldwide. At this stage it may be the time to look to slightly less developed countries to see what they have to offer.
They already supply chain extensively in wood, but are now branching out into crystal, and have even market one with a small camera. They may not be at Chinas level, but they are beginning to get there. There is still the cheap and plentiful labor and it may be tempting for Western companies to move their business there. Africa is involved in the fair trade of key chain supply, but that does not appear to have spread to China and India yet. The day of the free tag may be ending unless an equally cheap way of manufacture can be found. As you can see, there are now many sources of these wonderful products.
