How can I get a warm, full, and crisp sound out of Logic Pro 8 or Pro Tools LE?
My recording set up is an Mbox 2 connected to my Macbook Pro. I have a cheap MXL Condenser, but I also have a good
Sterling ST55 Large Diaphragm FET Condenser Mic. I use Logic Pro 8 mainly. I do not have a sound proof enviroment, but I only use acoustic guitars, folk instruments, djembes, ethnic drums, etc. Whether it be a product or a plug-in that I'm unaware of, I want a warm vintage sound that is very true and crisp. I wanna get that Beatles/Bob Dylan kinda sound, ya know? Whether it be advice or recommendation, please assist. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
A warm full crisp sound can be obtained in Pro Tools LE by simply using the onboard effects. The acoustic guitar can be brightened up with the Amplitube effect, or you can just use an EQ setting. My advice, is play with the controls until you find your sweet spot. From what I've seen is that everyone has a different perfect tone. My suggestion is use various EQ and find your sweet spot, use a compressor for all of it, it makes everything sit a lot better in the mix, Throw a small bit of wet reverb in the mix to build the full sound as well. Those should get you started on finding your sound.
