Wedding Ceremony Planning: Where Do You Start?

As you begin planning for your ceremony, there are several things to consider like atmosphere, vision, space, ambience, formal or traditional and so many more.   Here are some considerations to think about:

Do you want a formal church, traditional, elegant, or casual ceremony?  The size, space, and number of guests should give you an idea of how much volume you will need.  This will also help you select the right size group, and the type of instruments you may want for your ceremony.   It will also help you to determine the amount of amplification you may need.  In a cathedral, a pipe organ could sound awesome, but a string trio would be lost in that amount of space.   What are your favorite types of instruments?  Do you like strings, violins, horns, flutes or trumpets?  What genre of music do you want at your ceremony?  modern, classical, contemporary?   As you plan your ceremony, here is a checklist of items/questions to help you plan and organize the event:

Have you selected background music for the arrival before the ceremony?

Have you created the lineup with first and last names of the bridal party?

Will there be a Ring Bearer and/or Flower girl?

Will there be a Unity Candle?

Are you planning a Sand or Rose Ceremony?

Have you selected a song for the recessional?

Will the Officiate make any closing announcements (photo’s, reception location?)

Will there be any special music during the ceremony?

Have you decided on the seating order for the immediate family?

Have you selected a song for the seating of the mothers/grandmothers?

Will the bride be escorted by her Father? someone else?

Have you selected a song for the bridal processional?

Will anyone besides the Officiate be offering a special reading? Who?

Any special music to be performed during the ceremony?

If so, prerecorded or live?

Do you have someone designated to run sound during your ceremony?

Have you provided contact information and music selections to performers, if applicable?

Do you need ceremony sound reinforcement from your DJ or Band?

Have you created a program?

There are so many considerations to think about as you plan your wedding ceremony.   We have developed a complimentary ceremony and reception planning guide to help you through the process and personalize your ceremony for you.  It is available to anyone asks for it, and contains more than 50 pages of planning ideas for your ceremony and reception.  If you would like a copy, email us.
