Cecilio flutes? Cibaili flutes? HELP!!?
i'm planning to buy a flute, and saw that cecilio and cibaili flutes are extremely cheap (like under $150)..are these brands lousy or are their products are easily spoilt? please help me..and what brands are good and affordable? (my budget is under $300) help!
I have never heard of those two brands, so I think it would be safe to assume that they are not as well-known as Yamaha and Pearl Flutes, so they are probably not quality instruments.
I bought a beginner Pearl flute from www.wwbw.com a few months after I first started playing for about $300, and it was a wonderful flute. If you stick with Yamaha (which tend to be a little more expensive, but they are great instruments; recommended by most teachers) you should be able to find a reliable flute.
My flute teacher said not to buy Gemeinhardts, saying that they are not the best instruments. Selmer isn't a very good brand either.
I would recommend Yamaha, Pearl, or Armstrong, which are some of the better-known brands. If you're planning on playing flute throughout high school and after, then you will not get far with a $300 flute. Materials such as sterling silver and gold will make your tone sound much better, but obviously they cost quite a bit more. Other factors such as open hole vs. closed hole keys, headjoints, etc. will also affect your playing.
Try talking with a flute teacher or band director for more info about buying a flute. Good luck!
